Is File Sharing Illegal?

This question has a very simple answer.

NO

File Sharing is not illegal. You can share anything you want with anyone you want as long as you have the right to do so.

It is illegal however to share copy written material with out permission from the works author or owner.

Thats why file sharing has such a bad rep and has become a four letter word on the internet. People do not adhere to the law and start sharing the files on their computer that they do not have permission to share.

Since Napster file sharing hasn't been the same. The music industry is cracking down on the unauthorized distribution of their files. The copyright laws were created to keep people from stealing the work of others and trying to pass them off as their own. These laws have evolved over time and now included computer files, such as .mp3 and .mpg.

As long as you own the right to what ever you want to share then it is 100% legal to share it with anyone you want, however you want.

When you use a file sharing site remember to download responsibly and observe all copyright laws.

There are hords of great music out there that can be shared legally on the internet because the creators want them to be.

Many time new artists will release their music out to the internet to get exposure and start generating a fan base. So don't be discouraged from using file sharing programs.

Just be sure that the programs you use are reputable and protect you from virus.

All the sites listed at UnlimitedMp3s.net are widely used on the internet and are well established. You can be assured that they will not harm your computer and are legal.
